A physical model of a quarter car suspension with an adjustable damper was build to test suspension dynamics and control strategies. Test stand consist of:

  • passenger car's McPherson strut suspension,
  • platform for Rapid Control Prototyping on which is running a prototype control and measuring software
  • adjustable damper,
  • system of sensors for control and testing
  • electrohydraulic vibration excitator  (thanks to cooperation with Automotive Industry Institute)

This test stand allows to test and calculate for linear range  suspension transfer functions:

An example of calculated and compared with a linear mathematical model of quarter car suspension is presented below.
